SUMMARY:2022 California Energy Code: Reaching Towards Higher Efficiency Standards (3C-REN Regional Forum)
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\nDescription: \nThe California Energy Commission has set a precedence for decarbonization through the 2022 Title 24\, Part 6 Energy Code. To reach higher energy efficiency standards\, California is promoting all-electric new homes\, expanding solar and storage standards\, encouraging heat pump installations\, implementing new building segments\, and more! \nIn this Forum\, participants will have the opportunity to learn how industry groups and experts are preparing for the changes ahead for commercial\, residential\, and multifamily buildings and developing their own sets of codes. Join us and discover how the new energy code will influence your upcoming projects. \nThis event will be hosted in-person at the Museum of Ventura County (100 E Main St\, Ventura\, CA 93001). Event speakers and presentations will be announced shortly! \nRefreshments and a full lunch will be served. \nView Event Agenda \nSpeakers\nAmie Brousseau\nEnergy Commission Specialist\, California Energy Commission\n\n\n\n\n\nAmie Brousseau is an Energy Commission Specialist working in Outreach and Education for the Building Standards Office at the California Energy Commission. She specializes in the building envelope requirements\, developing resources and training materials to simplify the Energy Code. Amie is the current editor of the Blueprint newsletter. She is a project manager and contract manager. Prior to the CEC\, Amie began working with energy efficiency in 2011 doing energy audits and benchmarking for nonresidential buildings. She now enjoys reaching out to\nstakeholders across California with Energy Code presentations\, materials\, and information. \n\n\nNick Brown\nPresident\, BuildSmart\, Inc.\n\n\n\n\n\nAs President of BuildSmart\, Inc.\, Nick is responsible for energy modeling and sales. He brings 14+ years’ experience in the building industry\, including stints running manufacturing companies making drywall and stucco products. He has managed key home-builder relationships and learned from a materials standpoint how homes are built with energy- and cost-efficiency as the goals. He holds a BA in Economics from Princeton University and an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Nick also completed a Green Building Certificate Program at California State University at Long Beach. \n\n\nMoe Fakih\nPrincipal\, VCA Green \n\n\n\n\n\nMoe Fakih is a Principal at VCA Green and is responsible for overseeing and managing a team of highly skilled project managers offering services that include California green building code\, building commissioning\, LEED\, energy modeling and sustainability programs. Moe utilizes general contracting experience (licensed general contractor) and deep code knowledge to help project teams navigate unforeseen challenges and potential scope creep. He is a Certified Passive House Tradesperson and performs return on investment-based enhanced energy modeling. Moe holds a master’s degree in urban design with an emphasis in sustainability from San Diego State University. \n\n\nGray Gautereaux\nCivicSpark Fellow\, 3C-REN\n\n\n\n\n\nGray Gautereaux is a CivicSpark Fellow with the Tri-County Regional Energy Network and project manager for 3C-REN’s Reach Code Support Program. Gray received a BA in Politics from Willamette University and a Graduate Certificate in Renewable Energy from University of Nevada\, Reno. Gray studies the intersection between policy\, economy\, and scalable approaches to energy transition. \n\n\nChris Read\nSustainability Manager\, City of San Luis Obispo\n\n\n\n\n\nChris Read is the Sustainability Manager at the City of San Luis Obispo and is committed to collaboratively creating a carbon neutral\, equitable\, accessible\, and prosperous community. Mr. Read has worked with local governments for over a decade and is deeply driven to address the causes and impacts of climate change. \n\n\nBrian Selby\nPrincipal\, Selby Energy Inc\n\n\n\n\n\nBrian Selby is the owner of Selby Energy\, Inc. He has over 30 years’ experience as an energy consultant and residential building designer and has been a HERS rater for 15 years. He is a Certified Energy Analyst for both residential and nonresidential Standards. For the past three years he’s worked closely with CABEC and other stakeholders developing and implementing the CEA Exam program and teaches energy code to consultants\, plans examiners and building inspectors through the Energy Code Ace Title 24 Essentials classes.
