SUMMARY:Healthy Homes for Healthier Living – A Webinar for Households
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\nConsumers like you care more than ever about the quality of the environment in their home. This webinar will help you understand how your home works\, how it can affect your health\, and steps you can take to mitigate those health risks.  \n  \nSome key home-related health concepts you’ll learn:   \n\n Your home acts as a system that needs to be managed; through a combination of the building and its components\, what’s inside your building\, and how you occupy and manage your indoor environment.\n\n\n There are 8 healthy home principles that work together as a successful strategy for improving your home environment.\n\n\n Learn how to clean smart! Home cleaning is all about your health and reducing exposure to things in the home that are known to contribute to increases in health complaints.\n\n\n Modern homes and their contents directly impact how much moisture is available to create problems that lead to mold growth and allergen overload.\n\n\n  The best intentions of homeowners sometimes have the worst consequences. Learn some common pitfalls in home maintenance and how to avoid creating health impacts.\n\n\n  Your comfort in any home is all about good ventilation and air management. SUMMARY:Common Inspection Issues for Small Solar PV and Energy Storage Installs
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\nEvent Description: \nCome brush up on best practices for achieving quick\, successful\, and energy-code compliant solar and battery inspections. Industry expert Bill Brooks will provide a 1.5 hour training addressing the most common failings at inspection of single family PV solar and battery installs. \nWith expedited solar permitting mandated by AB 2188\, and many jurisdictions utilizing standard checklists for permits\, inspectors and installers are seeing an increase of in-field failed inspections. \nThis training is intended for both building department review & inspection staff as well as local installers and system designers to help levelize expectations\, increase the pass rate of inspections\, and ultimately lower the cost of installs across all local jurisdictions. This training is offered in partnership between 3CREN and City of Santa Barbara. \nInstructor: \n\nBill Brooks\, PE\, is Principal of Brooks Engineering and has over 32 years of experience designing\, installing\, and evaluating grid-connected PV systems. He has written numerous technical manuals and articles for the PV industry that are widely used throughout the United States and beyond. He has trained over 15\,000 contractors and code officials over the past 25 years. He was the lead technical advisor developing the IAEI PV Online Training for Code Officials (PVOT). His publications include the Expedited Permit Process for PV Systems\, the Field Inspection Guidelines for PV Systems\, and Understanding the CalFire Solar PV Installation Guidelines

SUMMARY:Introduction to High Performance Buildings & Careers
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\nCourse Description: \nCode compliance is a minimum standard for building performance; by contrast\, “high performance” refers to buildings that are designed\, built\, and commissioned to achieve above-code\, optimized performance. The magnitude of the opportunity to fill this gap cannot be over-emphasized. For example\, field research found that a single-day high-performance retrofit can improve HVAC system performance in new homes by an average of 25%. While the mainstream building industry strives for code compliance\, a small fraction of those in the industry adopt high-performance practices and produce homes and commercial facilities with lower energy use\, greater resilience\, exceptional durability\, outstanding comfort\, and zero onsite emissions. These individuals are consistently in demand\, command higher wages\, win awards\, and have the satisfaction of building a better world for themselves\, their families\, and communities. The secret sauce? Setting quantitative goals\, measuring performance\, and marketing the superior outcomes. This class is an introduction to the opportunities presented by working in the realm of high-performance buildings\, and how to create a place for yourself within that realm. It will also introduce 3C-REN’s new High Performance Fundamentals Program\, which will continue to be rolled out throughout 2022.  \n  \nLearning Objectives: \nAfter attending this class\, participants will be able to: \n\nExplain the concept of high performance building and the roles of ‘building as a system\,’ building science\, and quantitative assessment in achieving high performance\nUnderstand the connections between high performance building\, human health\, resiliency\, climate change mitigation\, and State energy and climate regulatory trends\nEnumerate the multiple benefits of adopting a high-performance approach to building design\, construction\, and commissioning\, including providing quantitative examples of improvements that can be achieved by adopting a high-performance approach\nBegin transitioning to high-performance building practices \n\n  \n2 AIA HSW|LU’s available for this event \n  \nInstructors: \n\nRick Chitwood\, Chitwood Energy Management\nAnn Edminster\, Design AVEnues LLC
