2025 Energy Code Update for the Building Industry

Event Description

The 2025 code cycle takes effect January 1, 2026! This course provides an overview of key changes to Title 24 Part 6 Energy Code, with a focus on architects, builders, building department staff and others in the construction industry. We’ll provide background on the reasons behind the changes and impacts for projects, particularly in the Central Coast region.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify Big Pictures Goals of the California Energy Commission and how those goals influence requirements for energy performance, indoor air quality and fuel source.
  • Understand the organizational changes to the 2025 Energy Code.
  • Recognize key updates including building envelope, lighting, mechanical and DHW systems, renewable energy and storage and field verification.
  • Review recent housing legislation AB 130 (AB 306) and its impact on the energy code cycle.
