As temperatures continue to rise across California, Ventura County is experiencing more frequent and intense extreme heat events. Extreme heat is one of the deadliest climate‑related risks, and its impacts on health, safety, and quality of life are felt across our communities. Older adults, young children, outdoor workers, people with existing medical conditions, and residents without access to shade or cooling are especially vulnerable during hotter days.
To better understand these impacts and develop effective, community‑informed solutions, Ventura County is creating a new Extreme Heat Action Plan (EHAP). This plan brings together local residents, Ventura County Public Health, the County of Ventura Sustainability Division, and community‑based partners including MICOP, CEC, CAUSE, Adelante Comunidad Conejo, and Buen Vecino.
Your experiences matter. By sharing how extreme heat affects your daily life, you can help shape strategies that protect those most at risk and strengthen resilience across Ventura County.
Residents are encouraged to take the Ventura County Heat Action Plan Survey, which takes approximately 20–30 minutes to complete. The survey is available online and will also be offered at upcoming community events hosted by project partners.

The insights gathered will guide practical, community‑driven actions to keep residents safe, informed, and prepared as extreme heat events become more common.
